German song composer. A cantor at Shubin in Bromberg and as of 1840, he was a teacher at the city school of Poznan. He lived in Berlin in 1843, where he trained singers at Stümer. He also studied composition with Emil Tschirch and Gustav Reichardt. From 1844 - 1848, he was a soloist at the Sing-Akademie in Berlin, later working as a music teacher in Potsdam. Due to a serious illness, he had to cancel his concert career in 1848. In 1857, he studied compostions at Moritz Hauptmann in Leipzig and became a singing teacher in Dresden. Afterwards, he moved to Berlin in 1869, where he opened a singing school for ladies. In the early 1880s, he returned to Dresden and Potsdam (1885).
