Friedemann Graef lives and works in Berlin, Germany, as a composer, clarinettist and saxophonist. Already as a high school student he played in the ensemble of the group ''Neue Musik Berlin'' and studied composition with Earle Brown. After phases of experimental rock music he was active in the European free jazz scene for many years. Friedemann Graef studied music ethnology in the USA, Indian raga music with Kamalesh Maitra and orchestration in Berlin, HdK. He composed orchestral and choral music, electronic music, organ works and chamber music with a focus on church music.
