My musical roots are diverse: Growing up in a small village in the Odenwald my first musical impressions were probably the hits of the 60s, which I heard on the radio, the songs sung in church on Sundays, the sounds of the local men's choir and the brass band where I started playing the clarinet at the age of ten.
When I was twelve years old (in the absence of a "real" organist) I was "put on the organ bench" - without having had the opportunity to receive organ lessons. So I played with the hymnbook on the music stand, without any knowledge of the tone, as it sounded good to me. Much later, after the beginning of classical piano lessons and after I was taught the music-theoretical background at school, I realized that I - intuitively - had not done everything wrong...
Over the years I tried to improve my organ playing and broaden my repertoire as well as my musical horizon. In the meantime, rock, pop and jazz influence my organ playing more and more. Besides the realization of pieces of this genre on the organ (see also my YouTube channel), I increasingly try to refresh chorale preludes for Sunday services according to my taste.
