Conductor, composer and teacher who graduated from the ''University Institute of Musical Studies (I.U.D.E.M)'' with a diploma in comparative music composition under the tutelage of the scholar Blas Emilio Atehortúa, a professor of clarinet. He studied at the ''Conservatory of Music'' in Maracay, Venezuela. Castillo studied orchestral conducting with Maestro Gonzalo Castellanos Yumar and musical analysis with the teacher, José Antonio Abreu.
He has conducted numerous national and international orchestras such as the ''Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela'', ''Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra'', ''Orquesta Sinfónica de Carabobo'', ''Orquesta Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho'' and the ''Philharmonic Orchestra Mendoza'' (Argentina). Between 1996 to 1999 and later from 2006 to 2013, he was artistic director of the "Banda Sinfónica 24 de Junio" [Symphonic Band ,,June 24]. He was founder of the ''Orquesta Municipal Valencias'' and director of the ''Baroque Camerata of Valencia''.
