Ghivizzani, (Guivizzani) Alessandro
* around 1572 in Lucca, † around 1632 in Parma (?), composer. Ghivizzani was probably in the service of the Florentine royal court. In 1604 he became a member of the ''Compagnia dell'Arcangelo Raffaelo'' and was organist at S. Pancrazio. His marriage to S. Caccini in 1609 was presumably with the intention of keeping in Florence this younger daughter of G. Caccini who had already been urgently requested by the court of Gonzaga in Mantua. But already in 1610 the couple went to Lucca and from there in 1613 to Mantua. From the collaboration with Monteverdi, Salamone Rossi and M. Effrem (1617) comes a madrigal for La Maddalena by G. B. Andreini, which was performed on the occasion of Ferdinando Gonzaga's wedding with Caterina de' Medici in Mantua.
