Bruno Siberchicot studied violin and viola in Bordeaux. Later he turned to composition, while working on a PhD in science, studying first with Henri Pauly-Laubry then with Eric Tanguy and Edith Canat de Chizy. Noticed by Betsy Jolas, Siberchicot received a grant from the Académie Internationale de Villecroze. He has received commissions from Quintette de Bretagne (wind quintet), ensemble Trielen (woodwind Trio), “Concours national des jeunes altistes” (viola solo), Kairos Reed Quintet and the Simolka/Wohlhauser duet (soprano/baritone) as well as from a number of soloists including the pianist Laurence Rigaut for Within and Without (2015).
His piece Changing Lights was played during the International Gaudeamus festival in Amsterdam in 2007 and later in Paris and Las Vegas (NEON’08). He also worked with the poet Zéno Bianu for a monodrama for voice, flute and piano entitled Eloge du Souffleur d’étoiles. Four of his recent pieces were recorded and released on CD (Résonances Croisées- Chanteloup Musique 2017). His five-voice choir “…par le mur étoilé” havr been sung during the last choir festival FestyVocal (Firminy -November 2018).
