My name is Toni Schmidt.
I am studying music to become a teacher at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) and I am passionately interested in music education beyond my studies. Many seminars and workshops have also brought me closer to the ''Orff Schulwerk'' and the associated methodology. Since then I have been fascinated by the working methods and didactic components of Orff's compositions.
I have been teaching music at a primary school for a number of years now, using Orff instruments in a variety of ways. For me, the development of a listening repertoire and the practical learning of musical structures and facts play an essential role. That is why I also use relative solmization in teaching in many different ways.
In addition, I lead a professional children's and youth choir in Berlin which regularly presents larger concert programs.
Teaching music and discovering music together is a wonderful job which inspires me anew every day. For this reason, it was a great concern of mine to arrange a setting which is especially intended for my children's and youth choir. Music pedagogical aspects are also included. The arrangement is thought out in a nuanced way and can be performed by children with different musical backgrounds on the Orff instruments.
