Johann Knöfel also Knefelius, Knöfelius, Knefel, Knöpflin (* around 1525-1530 in Lauban (Prussia); † after 21 April 21, 1617 in Prague) was a German composer and organist. At the age of about 30 Knöfel was cantor of the Valentin Trotzendorff Latin School, a Lutheran institution in Goldberg in Silesia. In 1569 he was the Kapellmeister of Duke Heinrich XI of Liegnitz, Brieg and Goldberg. In 1579 he was Kapellmeister of the Palatine Elector of Heidelberg Ludwig VI. Dismissed for religious reasons, he returned to Silesia in 1583 and became cantor and organist in St. Heinrich, Prague in 1592.
Almost nothing is known about his work although some sacred works have been preserved.
