In Vienna and later in Zagreb he created about 60 operas and operettas, 50 oratorios and cantatas, 180 choirs, 160 songs as well as orchestral and chamber music. His music was influenced by Verdi, the Viennese operetta and nationsl heroic Slavic folklore. Among his church music is a very folk, melodic offertory for Christmas.
