(*around 1759 in North Wingfield; † 1834 in Burton-upon-Trent).
Martha Greatorex was born about 1759 in North Wingfield near Chesterfield (Derbyshire) and was the eldest daughter of the organist Anthony Greatorex. As early as 1772, she was appointed organist of Leicester Cathedral succeeding her father who had taken over the organist posts in Burton-upon-Trent and held this position until 1800. She then left Leicester settled in Burton-upon-Trent.
Little is known about her subsequent life but she is listed as a "gentlewoman" in the Staffordshire directory of trades in 1818 and musically she appears with the publication of a piano variation. Further public activities in the field of music during this time are not known.
