Clergyman, choir director, composer. He entered the Franciscan monastery in Salzburg in 1840 and was ordained a priest in 1845; he subsequently worked in Hall in Tyrol and Bolzano. From 1849 (1846?) Engl worked as a high school professor in Hall, where he was also organist and choir director at the monastery church. Some of his works were published by the Innsbruck publishing house Groß. - He is not to be confused with the priest Andreas Engl (* 01/10/1866 Terenten/South Tyrol [Terento/I], † 05/03/1957 Anras/T; from 1919-51 parish priest in Anras) who published four Tantum ergo in 1893.
