Only very little information can be found about Rafael Anglés. Even his probable year of birth, 1730, is not completely confirmed. As organist at the Cathedral of Valencia his compositions were no longer entirely under the influence of Domenico Scarlatti, who continued to work mainly in Spain until the generation before him (e.g. Soler and Seixas). Among his students was Francisco Javier Cabo, who later became his successor as a famous and highly esteemed singer of the cathedral. He was also chapel master and creator of important liturgical choral worksat the organ He continued the great musical tradition of the cathedral.
