Elenore Duarte was a Flemish composer and was born on July 28, 1610 in Antwerp as the daughter of the very wealthy Portuguese-born Duarte family. Due to the fact that her manorial parental home developed into a city-renowned cultural and musical center, she came into early contact with important artists and musicians; some of whom she kept up a lively correspondence over a long period of time.
She probably died in 1678, possibly from an epidemic that was rampant in the city in that year.
