Anton Blasius Amon was an Austrian singer, composer and Fransiscan.
Around 1568 Blasius Amon joined the court chapel of Archduke Ferdinand II in Insbruck as a choirboy. There he received a thorough musical education, which he perfected on study trips. Especially his stay in Venice from 1574 to 1577 left its mark on his work. He brought back to his homeland not only the forms common there, but also the Venetian double chorus.
Blasius Amon was demonstrably active for various monasteries, including Zwettl, Lilienfeld, Heiligenkreuz and Neustift near Brixen. He created mainly sacred vocal works, including polyphonic motets and masses.
In the spring of 1587 he entered the Franciscan order in Vienna and was ordained priest before his premature death.
