I was born in Basel in 1948, studied music with horn as my main subject at the Conservatory in Basel, at the Academy of Music in Freiburg/Br. and at the Janacek Academy in Brno. Further studies followed in conducting with Milan Horvath and Jiri Pinkas and in composition with Heinrich Sutermeister.
From 1973 – 78, I was 3rd/1st horn player in the ''Orchestre de la Suisse Romand'' and then in the Radio Symphony Orchestra Basel.
In 1990, I was appointed ''Directeur Général de l'Orchestre d'Harmonie de Nice'', a quasi-professional wind orchestra, where I remained until my retirement in 2013.
Today I live in Halle an der Saale and devote myself primarily to my compositions. I am also still active as a conductor and arranger.
Among my compositions are symphonic, concertante, vocal and chamber music works as well as the opera "Raucher-Tango" (2016), for which I also wrote the text.
My "Violin Concerto" (1995), the "Concerto Grosso" (1998) and the "Serenade for 13 Winds" (2002) were commissioned works for the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1996, the "Violin Concerto" and in 1997 my "50th Psalm" for bass and orchestra were nominated for the "Monaco Composition Prize".
