Henry "Harry" Thacker Burleigh (* December 2, 1866 in Erie/Pennsylvania; † December 12, 1949 in Stamford, Connecticut) was a U.S. classical singer (baritone), arranger, composer, and editor, and is considered the "father of the spiritual." He was the first black composer to make black music accessible to classically trained musicians through the manner of his arrangements.
