Wikipedia:
Jacob Thune Hansen Gade (* November 29, 1879 in Vejle, Denmark; † February 20, 1963 in Torø Huse, Assens municipality on the island of Funen) was a Danish violinist and composer of mainly popular orchestral music.
Today he is known almost exclusively for his piece Jalousie, first performed on September 14, 1925 ("Jalousie" French. "jealousy," is also pronounced Jealousy in English and sometimes spelled that way or Jealousie). The tango, which he wrote to accompany a silent film when he presided over the Palad Teater orchestra, became an international hit and has been used in more than a hundred sound films to date, including ''Death on the Nile''. Lyrics for ''Jalousie'' were written in many languages. The royalties for this composition enabled Gade to devote himself entirely to composing for the rest of his life. In 1943, he retired to the hamlet of Torø Huse on the western edge of the island of Funen, where he died in 1963.
Today the money is placed into a foundation for young musicians.
