East, Michael 1580 - 1648

Michael East (b. c. 1580 in London; † 1648 in Lichfield) was an English organist and composer.

East was the nephew of the London music publisher Thomas East (c. 1540 to 1608). He became a bachelor of music at Cambridge in 1606 and served as choirmaster and organist at Lichfield Cathedral for the rest of his life, beginning in 1618.
