Howard Johnson (born June 2, 1887 in Waterbury, Connecticut; † May 1, 1941 in New York City) was an American songwriter. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
Johnson attended high school and received private music lessons. He played as a pianist in theaters in Boston. During World War I, he served in the U.S. Navy.
After his war service, Johnson went to New York, where he wrote for music publishers on Tin Pan Alley. In 1917, he joined the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Musically, he worked primarily with Milton Ager, Walter Donaldson, George W. Meyer, Joe Meyer, Percy Wenrich, James Kendis, James Brockman, Joe Da-vis, Harry M. Woods, Archie Gottler and others.
