Zeira Mordechai (1905-1968) - composer, was born in
Kiev (Ukraine) and moved to Israel in 1924. In 1927 Zeira moved to Tel Aviv and became a member of the studio of the Ohel Theater. Around 1928 Zeira went to Jerusalem to study music with S. *Rosowsky.
Zeira wrote hundreds of songs, more than 50 of which have a permanent and popular place in cultural heritage of modern Israel. The most important
influences include Eastern European, Cantonese
and Saudi idioms, as well as Russian romances and revolutionary songs are imprinted in his works.
