Rice, Elihu S. 02/28/1827 - 04/23/1912

Elihu S. Rice was the son of Erastus Rice and Lucretia M. Howe Rice. He and his widowed mother moved from New York to Logansport, Indiana in 1838. In 1854 he married Jeanette Mabon.

Although some sources give his first name as Elisha, his tombstone reads Elihu.

Rice was interested in music from an early age and was elected leader of the local singing club in 1848. From 1866 he was secretary and chorister of the Baptist Sunday School in Logansport.
