Billie Holiday, born Elionora Harris and originally called Eleanora Fagan[2], (* April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia;[3] † July 17, 1959 in New York City) is one of the most important American jazz singers along with Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. She was one of the most important artists of the swing era and landed worldwide hits such as I'll Be Seeing You, Strange Fruit and What a little Moonlight can do.
