Born in Stotternheim (near Erfurt), died in Erfurt.
Weimar attended the grammar school in Erfurt from 1752, where Jakob Adlung became his music teacher. In 1758, he was appointed chamber musician and court cantor in Zerbst, where he made the acquaintance of Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch. In 1763, Weimar was appointed cantor at the Kaufmannskirche in Erfurt, where he became music director in 1774 and received the title of music master in 1776. He was responsible for teaching singing at the ''Ratsgymnasium''. After an accident in 1799, he was confined to bed until his death.
