Studied at the Leipzig Conservatory, lived and composed in Basel.
As a composer, he oriented himself towards the contrapuntal style of old masters such as Bach, Handel and Mozart; his works include three larger choral pieces (Christmas and Passion music, “Engelwacht”); with the exception of a few songs, most of his works remained unpublished.
