Father Gelasius Hiebler, born in Scharnitz in what was then Bavaria, was an Augustinian monk in Rottenbuch / Upper Bavaria. After his ordination to the priesthood in 1744, he was also in charge of a monastery parish. He was also later entrusted with the monastery cellar mastery. It is not known whether he had a special musical assignment in the monastery, but it is probable.
