Odette Vercruysse was a French composer and songwriter who mainly wrote Christian-inspired songs.
As an organist, she worked for decades in the churches of Sainte-Marguerite d'Antioche and Sainte-Rictrude.
She composed numerous sacred songs that became liturgical and popular - including well-known pieces such as “Ô Gethsémani”, “Allez-vous en sur les places”, “Tu es bon”, “Les mains ouvertes”, “Je cherche”
Her songs reached a wider audience through her collaboration with John Littleton (ethnic American singer in France), who popularized her, for example with the album Amen - John Littleton chante Odette Vercruysse from 1969
She was considered one of the central figures of liturgical music reform in France - especially in the context of the Second Vatican Council.
