Carl Ferdinand Füchs (born February 11, 1811 in Vienna; died January 7, 1848 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer and violinist. He studied violin in Prague under Friedrich Wilhelm Pixis and composition under Friedrich Dionys Weber. In 1832, he passed his exams there and returned to Vienna. Here he worked as a musician and in the orchestra of the ''Kärntnertortheater'' and throughout his life he was also a composer and choir director of the Vienna Men's Choir. He gave several very successful concerts in which only his own works were performed. In 1842, he became singing teacher at the Protestant community's secondary school and cantor of the two Protestant churches. In 1847, he first showed symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis, which ultimately led to his death.
Füchs left behind orchestral and vocal works for various ensembles, as well as songs, mainly with piano accompaniment.
