John Evers : Follow me
A fugue is a form of music in which polyphony and varied repetition play a key role. This form developed in the 18th century .
Bach in particular is known as the master of fugue.
The main theme is called subject, and is the first to be played unanimously. The first bet is called dux (leader). The second bet of the subject is usually on the dominant, but in this case also on the tonic. The melody that accompans the subject from the second bet (comes = follower) is called contrasubject. In this piece, I'm going to have the voices changed.
Learn the subject and countersubject by heart and try to distinguish them from the hearing.
