Karen Lafferty began her career as a musician in California and became a central figure in the Christian “Jesus Music” movement in the early 1970s. She wrote her best-known song, “Seek Ye First” (Seek First the Kingdom of God), in 1971 during a period of personal and financial uncertainty. The song’s worldwide success enabled her to found the organization “Musicians For Missions,” which supports musicians worldwide in missionary work. Over the course of decades, she traveled to more than 50 countries to spread Christian music and nurture young talent. Today she lives in New Mexico and remains active as a mentor and musician in the Christian music scene.
