Unknown Anonymus : Der treue Husar (The Faithful Husar) arr. by Dieter Glave
For a 6 part male choir a-cappella
The song "Der treue Husar" (The Faithful Hussar)goes back to various folk song models from the 18th century. It has been very common for many decades in the Cologne Carnival (German: Fasching) where usually only the first verse is sung and thus the actual content of the sad ballad remained almost unknown. A total of 12 verses were found by the arranger. For this male choir version the song was shortened to performable seven verses without significantly changing its content.
