Sebastian Schilling was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz), Germany in 1981. He studied organ and choral conducting at the Evangelische Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle/Saale (Protestant Conservatory for Church Music in Halle/Saale, Germany) and at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden.
In the summer of 2001 he founded the Philipp Heinrich Erlebach Ensemble dedicated to sacred music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He also performs with the Canticum Novum Ensemble in Dresden.
