Andreas Fischer was born in 1960 in Baden-Baden, Germany. As a child he studied piano and cello and formed a string quartet with three siblings. Later he performed as cellist and drummer with a military band in Ulm. He was inspired through encounters with Lima and Stockhausen and participated in a workshop with Friedrich Gulda. He studied composition and continued to perform on the side, in Mainz and Dortmund and in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. He now performs with the Rhein-Ruhr Philharmonie and the Studentenorchester Essen. He also has an ongoing piano trio and string quartet, and loves squaredancing and Argentinian tangos.
