Filippo Gragnani (1767-1812) was an Italian guitarist and composer. He was born in Livorno, Italy and died in Paris, France; little more is known about his life. He is supposed to have studied counterpoint with Lucchesini and composed sacred music at his urging.
Gragnani composed mostly for his own instrument, the guitar. Today his chamber music with guitar is most often performed. Worthy of mention here are his three Sonatas for Violin and Guitar Op.8, his Trio Op. 12 for three guitars, as well as his Sextet for flute, violin, violoncello and two guitars Op. 9.
