Sebastian Steinhardt studied percussion from 1990-1992 and piano (including masterclasses) from 1992-2000. From 2000-2003 he attended a music secondary school in Rheinland-Pfalz, studying piano and composition, and attended panpipes masterclasses.
He participated in various bigs band, combo, solo, orchestral, and chamber music projects as well as radio and CD recordings. He played jazz workshops and concerts with Günter Hampel, Peter Herboldsheimer, All-Germany youth orchestra (Bundesjugendjazzorchester), and Professor Joachim Ulrich, among others.
In 2000 he won second prize at the regional jazz competition "Jugend jazzt" and second prize at the national composition competition "Bach 2000".
In 2001 he won second prize at the national composition competition in Siegburg.
In 2003 he won first prize at the regional jazz competition "Jugend jazzt" and received awards at the national jazz competition "Jugend jazzt".
