Falk Hübner was born in Bückeburg, Germany in 1979, and started studying bass and composition at the age of 19. He later studied jazz and classical contrabass, composition and conducting at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem in the Netherlands.
He has initiated various projects in contemporary jazz, modern chamber music and free improvisation, with concerts mostly in Germany and the Netherlands. He has composed for several ensembles and participated in interdisciplinary projects with dancers, choreographers, visual artists, photographers, video artists, theater and musicals.
In 2001 he founded the trio "Falk Fiction and the B-Movies" (alto saxophone, contrabass, percussion) with exclusively original repertoire. In 2002 he founded the contemporary jazz ensemble "Ultraschall" ("Ultrasound"), also with exclusively original repertoire.
Since 2002 he has been an instructor for bass, electric bass, theory and ensembles at the Musicschool Bocholt. Since 2004 he has been the musical director, arranger and conductor of the musical society Sempre Sereno (Wageningen, the Netherlands), in the 2004/2005 production of the musical "Moulin Rouge"; and has collaborated with the team of choreographer Michelle Kurzenacker in the production of the interdisciplinary film project "Talk to Me."
