Melchior Neusidler or Newsidler (1531-1590) was a lutenist and German composer. He was born in Nürnberg, Germany, the brother of Hans Neusidler, also a composer. He published two books of lute tablatures in Venice in 1566 and a collection in Strasbourg in 1574. Several of his pieces were published in the Theater musicum of Pierre Phalèse in 1571. Melchior Neusidler transcribed for lute vocal music of Orlando de Lassus, Jean Richafort, Thomas Crecquillon, Cyprien de Rore, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Luca Marenzio.
