Christian Knopf-Albrecht was born in 1973 in Rostock, Germany. His early interest in composition was carefully encouraged in his musical training. In 1991 he won second prize in the national competition "Jugend musiziert." His already comprehensive oeuvre spans chamber music and organ music as well as larger vocal and orchestral works, such as his Sinfonie, orchestral suite, St. Mark's Passion, and the oratorio "Tröstet mein Volk" ("Comfort My People"). His compositional efforts are always molded by his inner acceptance of God and Christianity, reflected in the themes of his music, without falling into the foreground activism of the "new sacred music."
