Mario Kuri-Aldana (1931- ) was born in Tampico, Mexico and studied piano at the Academia Juan Sebastián Bach und composition at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the University of Mexico. His teachers include Rodolfo Halffter, Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Alberto Ginastera, Olivier Messiaen,Bruno Maderna, Luigi Dallapiccola, Aaron Copland and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
He is now harmony professor at the music school of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. He composes classical music, like his first work Suite ingenua for piano (1953), as well as folk music, of which his Bolero
Página blanca is the most well-known.
