Burgmüller, Friedrich 12/04/1806 - 02/13/1874

Friedrich Burgmüller (1806-1874) grew up in Düsseldorf, Germany and after his father's death moved to Mühlhausen/Basel, where he taught music and gave concerts as pianist and cellist. In 1834 he moved to Paris where he taught piano to the children of the "bourgeois" King Louis Philippe. He reached the high point of his compositional work with his three collections of études which appeared shortly after 1850.
