Jean Baptiste Breval (1756-1825) was a member of the Paris Opera violoncello section between 1781 and 1806. He published seven concerti, five duets, three Sonatas, and twelve "Airs Variés" for violoncello. He also wrote two Concertantes, quartets, trios, and a method book titled "Méthode raisonnée de Violoncelle" which appeared in Paris in 1804.
