Heinichen, Johann David 04/17/1683 - 07/16/1729

Johann David Heinichen (1683-1729) was a student at the Thomas School in Leipzig under J.Schelle und J.Kuhnau. Afterwards he was appointed court composer in Zeitz. After 1717 he became Kapellmeister at the court of August the Strong in Dresden. His oeuvre includes operas, cantatas, concerti, symphonies and chamber music. In 1728 he published his important theoretical work "Der Generalbaß in der Komposition" ("Figured Bass in Composition").
