Berger, David: Journal Square

This straight ahead shuffle in the tradition of Duke Ellington's train songs will be a welcome addition to advancing big band literature, and is also appropriate for professional bands as well. Berger used it as his band's opener for many years. Conceived by the composer while riding home on the Journal Square train, it features a 12-bar minor form and has plenty of opportunities to open things up for solos. A guitar chord chart by Jim Greeson is included in each set.
