Hopkins, Michael: Five Note Samba

Your students will love playing this pentatonic composition in the popular Brazilian dance style. It's an excellent piece to teach dynamic contrasts, short bow strokes, syncopation, and how to play alternating pizzicato and arco passages. Optional percussion parts for cabasa, guiro, and claves are included, but in his score notes Hopkins says that other Latin instruments may be substituted if these are unavailable.
