Bortniansky, Dimitrij , Tersteegen, Gerhard: Ich bete an die Macht der Liebe

The melody comes from the Ukrainian composer Dmitri Stepanovich Bortnjanski (1751–1825), who worked in St. Petersburg; he composed it in 1822. The melody was first assigned to Gerhard Tersteegen's hymn verse in a chorale book edited by the former Catholic priest Johannes Evangelista Go&sz;ner (1773–1858).
