Compello, Joseph: A Hoot and a Half-Note

Introducing beginning students to the appearance and rhythm of half-notes is the goal of this simple march.  Consisting entirely of half-notes, all instruments except snare and bass drum will learn to perform this essential beginning band rhythm.  All instruments get to play the melody and there are ample opportunities to work on phrasing and dynamic contrasts as well.  Use this for a successful first-year band conc
