Elfman, Danny: Beetlejuice

After the box office success and cult popularity of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (1985), Tim Burton’s second feature film, Beetlejuice (1988), was his first bonafide hit and set him on the path to mainstream success with Batman (1989). The bizarre, off kilter visual personality of Beetlejuice became the blueprint for what would become Tim Burton’s distinctly personal style. Burton assembled a diverse cast of character actors: Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Wynona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Jeffrey Jones. The cast and crew included several people who soon became established players of the Burton repertoire. Everything that makes Danny Elfman Danny Elfman can be found in Beetlejuice. From the wholly unique timbral combinations, to the vast array of influences from world music to the classical repertoire, to homages of his film music heroes Nino Rota and Bernard Herrmann. Elfman throws in anything and everything. This edition was engraved from manuscripts in the hand of Steve Bartek. Includes a foreword by Danny Elfman!
