Scherzino

Joachim Andersen (1847–1909) was a Danish virtuoso flutist, composer, and conductor. A co-founder of the Berlin Philharmonic, he played a key role in shaping modern flute technique through his extensive pedagogical works. Scherzino (from Eight Performance Pieces, Op. 55 No. 6) is a lively and playful character piece arranged for flute duet. Andersen’s original solo is preserved in the first flute part while the second flute part is adapted from the piano accompaniment. This duet arrangement is ideal for teachers playing with students or for intermediate to advanced flutists who want the fun of playing together without needing a piano.
