''Sind die Lichter angezündet'' (Once the Lights are Lit'') is a German Christmas carol.

The lyricist and children's book author Erika Engel wrote the poem under the title Weihnachtsfreude (Christmas Joy). This poem was set to music by Hans Sandig, later music director of the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and director of the Rundfunk-Kinderchor in Leipzig. The three-verse song developed into one of the best-known Christmas carols in the GDR.

Here, the melody is integrated into a simplified version of Bach's arrangement from the cantata BWV 147, which is appropriate as the first 8 notes of the chorales are identical. Due to the key, the song is performed in the style of a men's choir arrangement
