Heinrich Babaschek : Tango d'Amor (for small Ensemble)
This work with four performers should ideally inspire the desire to dance and has arisen from the preoccupation with the accordion. What an instrument allows in terms of playing technique, or how one uses it as a composer, can be both a challenge and a source of inspiration in one. It is remarkable that an accordion player is able to produce melodies as well as harmonies on both keyboards of the instrument. In the piece presented here, this is of course taken into account. The "pair run" of violin and accordion runs audibly as a red theme through the events, the themes are successively exchanged, diminished or linked in counterpoint. In the last third of the tango, a seventh chord with dissonant lead and accent can be heard, which may be interpreted with a wink as a "misstep". Double bass and snare drum complement the ensemble and together form the basis for tempo and rhythm.
