Hans Werner Heymann : Mikrosuite (Micro Suite)

The "Micro Suite" goes back to a youth work from my school days. I wrote the original version in 1963 when I was 16 years old. At that time I had hoped for a performance of the piece by the school orchestra of my high school. I based my composition on the current instrumentation (instead of the non-existent double basses in which the original version therefore provided for a division of the cello group).
My music teacher at the time considered the micro suite too difficult for the school orchestra he conducted. Although he was certainly correct in this assessment, in my opinion he probably did not recognize the potential of the piece in which I had first seriously tried to find my "own tone" as a young composer. To my regret, the piece remained unperformed.
In October 2020, more than 57 years after its creation, I looked over the handwritten score of the microsuite once again. My impression was that it might be worthwhile to carefully rework the piece and bring it back to life after its long slumber. In my new version I have tried to eliminate or mitigate some of the weaknesses of the original version. The structure, the theme and the character of the small dance-like work has not been fundamentally changed at any point.
The piece is divided into four sections: Andante (introduction) - Presto - Allegretto - Presto (repetition of the second section)
